Online Mode
WhenyouoperatetheSerialAdapterinOnlineMode(seeFigure3),themain
screenareadisplaysyourinteractionswiththeASCIIdevice,asifitwerethescreen
ofanASCIIterminal.Simultaneously,thedatastreambeingoutputbythedevice
isstoredinan8-pagecircularbuffer,soyoucannotonlyaccessandoperatethe
device,butyoucanalsoreviewitshistoricaldataasneeded.Becausethebufferis
circular,italwaysretainsthemostrecenteightpagesofdatafromthedevice;the
newestdatawilloverwritetheoldestdata.
Conveniently,youcanprogramanyofthePCkeyboard’s12functionkeysto
triggeryourmostfrequentlyuseddata-streamcommands.Pressinganyofthese
keyswheninOnlineModewillsendthatdata-streamcommandtothedevice.
Duringtheonlinesession,youcanenterthefollowingkeystocontrolthe
communicationwiththeASCIIdeviceoraccesstheSerialAdapterHelpandSetup
screens.
